SplitNest

How SplitNest Works

A simple, transparent 6-step lifecycle that keeps household finances completely stress-free.

1

Create or Join Your Nest

One flatmate creates a Nest (e.g. "Flat 402") and shares the 10-character code. Housemates join from Android or Web and immediately see the communal ledger.

Setup
2

Add an Expense

Whenever someone pays for groceries, electricity, internet, or dinner, they tap the Quick Action button, enter the description and rupee amount.

Capture
3

Choose Who Shares It

Select only the housemates who actually participated. If someone was away for the weekend or did not share the meal, uncheck them so they aren't charged.

Inclusion
4

Split Equally or by Exact Amounts

Split the bill evenly with one tap, or assign itemized exact amounts. The server validates that all shares total 100% down to the exact paisa.

Allocation
5

Review Who-Owes-Who

Our two-pointer greedy debt simplifier instantly collapses all shared expenses into the minimum possible number of direct repayment transactions.

Simplification
6

Settle the Outstanding Balance

Make the transfer via your preferred UPI app and tap "Record Settlement" in SplitNest. The balances update in real-time, closing the debt obligation.

How the Communal Kitty Works

Instead of recording every small household purchase like dish soap, cooking spices, or garbage bags as a separate split bill, housemates top up the Communal Kitty.

1. Collective Top-Up Each flatmate contributes ₹1,000 to the kitty at the beginning of the month.
2. Single-Tap Spending When someone buys joint groceries, they mark "Paid from Kitty". Zero split math required.
